About JANAFA-Newport

Japan-America Society of Southern New England (JASNE)/Japan America Navy Friendship Association-Newport (JANAFA-Newport) is a society for people who have served in Japan, are going to serve in Japan, or have significant connection with Japan. We started as JANAFA-Newport arranging on-base activities that focus on connecting military members and their families together to help them prepare for future assignments in Japan or to celebrate their previous time in Japan. We have expanded our mission and now for off-base activities, we also do business as JASNE. JASNE offers services and activities to foster greater friendship between Japan and America, including supporting other organizations in southern New England focused on Japan-America relations in their efforts and promoting their events.  We plan to hold a Japan-America Friendship Festival in Newport RI on 25 October 2025 modeled after the Japan Festival Boston.
