Japan-America Society of Southern New England (JASNE)invites you to the Japan-America Friendship Festival in Touro Park, Newport, from 1100-1500 on 25 OCT when the delegation from Newport's Sister City, Shimoda, visits. Join us at Touro Park for a day of cultural exchange and family fun. Experience the thunder of taiko drums, graceful martial arts demonstrations, hands on kids’ crafts, kimono photo moments, calligraphy, origami, and delicious Japanese inspired food booths. Meet local cultural organizations, explore vendor booths, and relax with music under the trees. This four-hour community festival is free and designed for all ages—come learn, taste, and play while discovering the traditions and creativity that connect Newport and Shimoda. You are also invited to come to the Karaoke Night at the Newport Marriott this Saturday night from 1900-2200 and to a Memorial Ceremony at the gravesite of Commodore Matthew Calbraith Perry in Island Cemetery at 0900 on Sunday, 26 OCT
